  • Our Regular Decision deadline for admission is coming up on February 15, 2024. Students need to submit their completed application, official high school transcript, and application fee or waiver by the deadline.
  • The 2024-25 FAFSA is now available! We encourage all students who have applied or are applying to UK to submit a FAFSA so we can consider them for financial aid opportunities. Use our school code - 001989. The priority FAFSA deadline for incoming students is March 1.

NEW MAJORS
We are so excited to announce that UK will be offering three new majors this fall. Our faculty and administration are always listening to world trends and students to provide education that will set Wildcats up for success.

Statistics and Data Science - College of Arts and Sciences
A bachelor's degree in statistics and data science will equip students to execute all stages of data analysis, from acquisition and exploration to application of statistics and machine learning methods for the creation of data.

As businesses and organizations increasingly rely on data to make informed decisions, there has been a surge in the demand for more people who are trained to make sense of data.

Sport Leadership - College of Education
For the first time, the University of Kentucky is offering a bachelor’s degree in sport leadership. The Bachelor of Arts in Sport Leadership is based in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion in the University of Kentucky College of Education and offers three tracks.

Sport Leadership Careers is designed to give students a foundational curriculum connected to sport and athletics careers. The content focuses on leadership with underlying principles of sport sociology and sport psychology.

Sport Leadership Gaming, offered as an interdisciplinary degree with the College of Communication and Information, prepares students to lead in emerging and inclusive sporting opportunities. This track will introduce esports and gaming industries.

Sport Leadership Entrepreneurs also offered in collaboration with the College of Communication and Information, provides a foundation in innovation and entrepreneurial thinking for students preparing to lead a sport-related business.

Criminal Justice
Our new Criminal Justice program is built upon a dynamic curriculum that goes beyond a surface-level understanding to delve deep into the underlying cultural, economic and political connections with social harm, crime and systems of social control. By exploring these complex issues, we will prepare students to think critically, analyze situations and develop innovative solutions to the challenges facing our society today.

Q&A:

What are the best ways to get involved or make friends on campus?
  • Having both a son and daughter enrolled at the University of Kentucky has truly expanded my appreciation of how incredible this institution is. Both have fully embraced opportunities such as working on campus, being involved in undergraduate research, Greek life and more. Their involvement in various organizations and activities has allowed them to build friendships that have most definitely contributed to their success and sense of belonging at UK.
How has UK changed over time?
  • The facility and infrastructure improvements have been the most significant change that I have witnessed while at UK. New residential halls designed with academic learning space inside the halls, a state-of-the-art student-focused Gatton Student Center and the most recent announcement of the new Health Education Building designed to be the largest academic building in the history of UK, have made the University of Kentucky an amazing place to be a part of.
What resources are you proud that UK offers to students?
  • The academic resources at UK are unmatched. From one-on-one personal tutoring in The Study to our more group focused common hour study group sessions, our Transformative Learning staff offer a wide range of academic support for all students residing on or off campus.
What traditions should incoming students look forward to?
  • Big Blue Nation Orientations are the first major event that our new students have the chance to fully understand how special the University of Kentucky is. BBNOs are our way for new students to meet other students from various backgrounds, they secure that first academic college course schedule, learn more about the over 600 student organizations, and yes, even learn the C-A-T-S cheer for the very first time as a UK Wildcat!
What is the best way for a student to show off their Wildcat spirit?
  • We encourage students to share their stories and perhaps even a photo of them selecting UK on their social media channels. It is always exciting to see how far and wide the Big Blue Nation expands across all 120 KY counties, all 50 states and multiple international countries.
