UK Update February 2025


High School Seniors (Admitted): 

We would love for your admitted seniors to join us at one of our spring programs designed for them: 
  • Admitted Student Celebration: Events in Kentucky and out-of-state locations, with information on next steps and an opportunity to connect with other students considering UK. 

  • Admitted Student Day: Held on campus in Lexington, featuring information on next steps, opportunities to meet with representatives in academic colleges and current students. Campus tours will also be available.

UK Timelines for Decision Releases: 

College of Design (Architecture, Interiors and Product Design): Decisions began releasing in late January. 

Human Health Sciences: Decisions will be released on February 10. 

Lewis Honors College: Decisions will be released in mid-February.   

Competitive Scholarship Awards: Notifications will be sent by March 1. 

William C. Parker Belonging Scholarship: Expected to be released in March/April. 

Financial Aid Notifications: We anticipate starting to send these to first-year students in late March. 

Big Blue Nation Orientation Registration: Students must confirm attendance by May 1, 2025, to secure their spot in the Fall 2025 class. 

For Underclassmen: 

The Visitor Center is open every weekday this spring and summer, and we invite all high school students to visit and explore UK! Students can schedule personalized visits here. 

If any of your students are taking dual credit or considering it, our Transfer Advisor and Equivalency Specialist, Bonnie Schwab, is available to help answer questions about course equivalencies and degree applicability. She can be reached at bonnie.schwab@uky.edu or 859-218-1062.

New Major: Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences  

We are excited to announce a new major starting in Fall 2025 - bachelor of science in pharmaceutical sciences (BSPS). This program is ideal for students pursuing careers in pharmaceutical research, clinical trial management, health systems analytics or for those who are planning to go on to medical, dental, veterinary or pharmacy school. 

This degree equips students with the coursework and skills to succeed. They will gain a solid foundation in the basic sciences - chemistry, biology and physiology - and explore specialized topics in drug development, medicinal chemistry and health outcomes research.

Our   First Time Freshman Guide   also details step-by-step information about any incoming first year student’s next steps. Any student who was admitted to the University of Louisville without test scores on file or who does not meet the minimum math and/or reading requirements for their academic program may need to take the   Accuplacer . The Accuplacer is a course placement test given by the College Board that academic advisors will use to place the student into a math or English course. UK Sept Update

  . Hello counselors and greetings from the University of Kentucky!  September is an exciting month for the University of Kentucky! We have some key updates to share from our campus:   ADMISSION We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve begun sending out admission decisions for students who have completed their applications. If your student’s application is fully submitted and meets our criteria, they can receive your admission decision in as little as two weeks. We operate on a rolling basis throughout the year. Accepted students will receive electronic notification through their applicant portal, followed by an admission packet in the mail.
