What are my Students' Next Steps?

High School Seniors:

We encourage guidance counselors to continue checking in on their high school seniors' progress. Please assure your students that completing these actions will assist in a smooth transition to life at Murray State University!


  • Competitive Scholarship Application - The priority deadline for our competitive scholarship application was last month, however, students can continue completing the application for consideration should additional funds become available. This application is available in their MyGate account. A FAFSA is required to accept Murray State University scholarships.
  • Housing Application - Our housing application should be completed as soon as possible. The refundable deposit of $150 will be collected at the time of application and can be refunded when students move off-campus, OR by May 1st should students pursue alternate plans after high school.
  • Racer Nation Orientation Registration - RNO is the new student orientation required for all students planning to attend Murray State University. Registration is now open and dates are beginning to fill up. RNO provides students the opportunity to set their schedules and get additional information ahead of their fall semester.
High School Juniors:

Juniors will begin navigating the application process in the fall and should start scheduling campus visits if they haven't done so already! We offer individual visits Monday-Friday, Saturday visits twice per month and Racer Days in the spring and fall.

Racer Day | March 29, 2022

Racer Days are open house visits where students have the opportunity to meet the Office of Recruitment & Transfer Center staff, professors, and student organization representatives. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with Financial Aid and Scholarship office staff. Campus tours will be available at the close of the event. You will have the opportunity to complete the on-site admission experience, so don't forget to bring your official transcript and test scores.

Racer Nation Orientation

Orientation Registration is now Open


Your students' college experience at Murray State begins with Racer Nation Orientation. It's filled with fun and important activities, programs, and opportunities to prepare your students for a fantastic experience at Murray State!


No orientation fee is required at this time. The $130 orientation fee will be added to the students' Fall 2022 bills.

ACT On-Campus

The ACT On-Campus test is the same as the National version; however, answer sheets are hand-scored and can only be used for admission to Murray State, as well as for Murray State scholarship purposes. Students who do not intend to attend Murray State University are advised to take the National ACT rather than the ACT On-Campus test.

April 13th

May 11th

  . Hello counselors and greetings from the University of Kentucky!  September is an exciting month for the University of Kentucky! We have some key updates to share from our campus:   ADMISSION We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve begun sending out admission decisions for students who have completed their applications. If your student’s application is fully submitted and meets our criteria, they can receive your admission decision in as little as two weeks. We operate on a rolling basis throughout the year. Accepted students will receive electronic notification through their applicant portal, followed by an admission packet in the mail.
