Student StoriesAudrey Everley '28 Beaver Dam, KY
Sophomore Audrey Everley describes her journey to Kentucky Wesleyan as both simple and personal. From her first tour—led by Natalie, a friendly student from Las Vegas—Audrey felt welcomed into a community where everyone belongs. “At Wesleyan, people really want to know you,” she shared. “Even if you’re not on the same team or in the same major, students and staff take the time to connect. You’re never just a number—you’re a person with a story that matters.” That sense of support has carried into the classroom. Audrey recalls struggling in math but being encouraged when Dr. Starkey, her professor, worked with her directly to ensure her success. “It wasn’t a tutor or assistant—it was the professor herself,” Audrey explained. “That’s what makes Wesleyan different.” Originally an elementary education major, Audrey has since shifted to middle grades education, inspired by the teachers who shaped her own middle school years. She hopes to follow that path all the way to becoming a school principal. To parents and school partners, Audrey puts it simply: “KWC gives students the full college experience, but you can’t fall through the cracks. There’s always someone here to help you get back up and keep moving forward.” |
