Application Updates

Our application for Fall 2024 is live, as of August 1, 2023! Here are the requirements:
  • Application form (UK Application or Common Application)
  • Official high school transcript
  • $50 application fee or qualifying fee waiver
  • ACT/SAT scores (optional)
Official ACT/SAT Scores- Testing Center or Transcript
  • UK has extended our test-optional pilot through the 2028-29 academic year and we will accept ACT/SAT scores directly from the testing centers and/or from the student’s official high school transcript.
    • If you include test scores on transcripts, we will automatically pull those from the student’s transcript and include them with their file. This is to benefit students who want us to receive their scores and to eliminate the need for them to spend time or money requesting an official score report. Test scores will never be used in a way that would negatively affect a student’s admission or scholarship opportunities. Students need not be alarmed if they prefer to be test optional but know that we see their test scores on their high school transcript. They will only be used if they can help a student in the admission, scholarship or class placement process.
Combined Application
  • UK offers a combined application, meaning that students can apply for admission, the Lewis Honors College, competitive scholarships, and/or the William C. Parker Belonging Scholarship within one application.
Deadlines
  • December 1, 2023
    • Early Action (non-binding) admission
    • Lewis Honors College
    • Academic scholarships
    • Competitive scholarships
    • Priority deadline for belonging scholarships
  • February 15, 2024
    • Regular decision admission
    • Deadline for belonging scholarships
Essays
  • Students may address any of the Common Application essay prompts for their admission essay requirement, regardless of whether they apply through Common Application or the UK Application.
  • Students interested in the William C. Parker Belonging Scholarship Program can choose one or both essay prompts below as a portion of the application process:
    • “Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.”
    • “The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?”
  • Students can apply for Competitive Scholarships and/or the Lewis Honors College using this prompt:
    • “Kentucky is one of four states that is a Commonwealth. The term means the state is for the common good.  What do you consider to be for “the common good” and how do you hope to use your life experiences, challenges, uniqueness, and intellect to contribute to the common good in your community, as you define it?”
