As you are aware, the U.S. Department of Education updated the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-25 school year. These efforts are intended to streamline completion of the form and make it easier for students and families to apply for financial aid. The rollout has experienced technical difficulties and setbacks. We understand the challenges this can cause your college-bound students and their families. 

 The UK Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, in collaboration with the our Enrollment Management team, remains committed to helping students navigate the new application and answer any questions they may have. 

Incoming first-year students for Fall 2024 and their families, regardless of their college choice, are invited to a live FAFSA Help Zoom hosted by the University of Kentucky.

7 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. CDT)

During the workshop, our financial aid professionals will cover: 
  • Practical advice on how to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA .
  • Provide additional and current information from the U.S. Department of Education on what is now available to students and contributors who have already completed the 2024-25 FAFSA and need additional assistance.   
  • How to schedule private and confidential appointments with a member of our financial aid team. We will also have contact information for all of Kentucky's public higher education institutions available for students.
This workshop is open to all Kentucky students; students do not need to have been admitted or even applied to UK to attend. The workshop is solely focused on assisting students and families with FAFSA challenges.

To better serve our students as we approach the first-year student confirmation deadline, the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships will offer extended hours beginning Monday, April 29, 2024, and continuing through Wednesday, May 15, 2024. 
 
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. (EDT)  
Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (EDT)

Our   First Time Freshman Guide   also details step-by-step information about any incoming first year student’s next steps.   . Hello counselors and greetings from the University of Kentucky!  September is an exciting month for the University of Kentucky! We have some key updates to share from our campus:   ADMISSION We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve begun sending out admission decisions for students who have completed their applications. If your student’s application is fully submitted and meets our criteria, they can receive your admission decision in as little as two weeks. We operate on a rolling basis throughout the year. Accepted students will receive electronic notification through their applicant portal, followed by an admission packet in the mail.
