Fall 2024 Figures

We are proud to share some preliminary figures for our Fall 2024 enrollment, retention and graduation with you. Full details are available here, but we would like to highlight:

- This fall, UK has 36,161 students (25,774 undergraduates) enrolled on campus, according to preliminary figures. That’s a nearly 7 percent increase and represents a record enrollment.
- 18.8 percent of our first-year students come from underrepresented backgrounds; 26.1 percent are first generation.
- Retention rates - students successfully returning to campus - are again at record levels.
- The six-year graduation rate reached another all-time high at more than 71 percent - a continual trajectory of progress over more than a decade and places us among the Top 100 public four-year colleges and universities in the country based on the most recent data.
- Our four-year graduation rate is now at more than 60 percent - almost 30 percentage points higher than it was roughly 15 years ago.

Major Feature: Learning and Behavior Disorders/Elementary Education

Did you know the university offers a new dual teacher certification program? The Bachelor of Arts in Learning and Behavior Disorders/Elementary Education program prepares aspiring teachers in special education learning and behavior disorders and elementary education (LBD/ELED).

Teachers who are dually certified in learning and behavior disorders and elementary education can teach in a general elementary classroom, kindergarten through grade five, or in a special education classroom with expertise in learning and behavior disorders, primary through grade 12 (ages 5-21 years).

Students participate in field experiences across K-5 general education and P-12 special education classrooms, and experience embedded course work at the elementary level. LBD/ELED students gain more than 200 field hours across these settings and complete a semester of student teaching split between elementary education and special education settings.

Lexington

Lexington, Ky., is the Horse Capital of the World, home to the Kentucky Horse Park and the historic Keeneland. Keeneland is one of the most unique parts of the Lexington experience, just a 15 minute drive from the University of Kentucky campus. During the Fall Race Meet, every Wednesday through Sunday in October, the best horses, owners, jockeys and trainers converge at the Keeneland to compete in “racing as it was meant to be.”

For all things equine, there’s no better destination than Lexington. Check out VisitLex to learn more!
