U of L Updates

Greetings from the University of Louisville,

As we quickly approach the holiday season, the University of Louisville wants to take a few minutes to give you some key updates surrounding ACT/SAT optional policies and scholarships.

ACT/SAT Optional Policy Updates
Students who apply ACT/SAT optional to business, engineering and nursing will be required to complete the Accuplacer exam created by College Board to be considered for direct admission to the program. Students who wish to delay taking their Accuplacer until later in the academic year to allow study and preparation time should contact their admissions counselor. They can have their application reviewed for general admission as an Arts & Sciences major. Once the student has taken the Accuplacer, we will re-evaluate their application for direct admission to the program of their choice.
For each program the following Accuplacer exams are required:

  • Business – Math and Reading Accuplacer
  • Engineering – Math Accuplacer
  • Nursing – Math and Reading Accuplacer
Students can register to take the Accuplacer Exam in two formats:
  • UofL Testing Services in person or remote - $15
  • Virtually with Examity - $25
Students who received an application fee waiver will also have the fee waived for the Accuplacer. To help your students prepare for the Accuplacer Exam, there is a study app available through College Board.

For more information about the Accuplacer and registration, please visit the University of Louisville Testing Services Website.

Scholarship and Competitive Program Updates
In order to allow students ample opportunity to submit required documents, we have extended the credential deadline to January 15, 2021. Students are still required to apply for admission to UofL by December 15, 2020. Please encourage students to submit essays, resumes and letters of recommendation as soon as possible so the review process can begin.

The programs included in this deadline extension are:
  • Trustees' Competitive Scholarship
  • Woodford R. Porter Scholarship
  • Competitive Regional Scholars
  • Competitive National Scholars
  • Grawemeyer Scholarship
  • McConnell Scholarship
  • Martin Luther King Scholars
  • Brown Fellows Scholars

The Honors Program will still require the essay and resume to be submitted by December 15, 2020, but will accept transcripts and test scores (if not test optional) until January 15, 2021.

Pease continue to remind your students they may apply to UofL with our Take Flight application or the Common App. We're here to help, so please reach out to your personal admissions counselor at any time.
