 What's New With Big Blue

This fall, we will be offering many options for students to connect with us both on campus and off! Please pass along these opportunities to your students:
  • UK Previews. These are the best way for students to connect with us closer to their home! Throughout September and October, we are offering events all around Kentucky and surrounding state. At a UK Preview, students will connect with UK staff, hear an admissions presentation and learn what UK has to offer to them in their educational journey. 

  • Big Blue Open Houses. These events offer students and families the opportunity to schedule a full day of programming on campus at UK based on their interests. They can take a campus tour, meet with an academic program or college, connect with our Diversity Student Ambassadors, learn about campus resources during a fair and much more! We are offering five open houses in October and November.

  • Campus Visits. We offer campus visit experiences throughout the entire year. Students can register for an admissions session and guided campus tour, as well as additional events or meetings based on their interests.

  • Students, families and school counselors are always able to schedule a phone call or virtual meeting with one of our admission counselors or a diversity admissions counselor. 

 

 

 The College of Nursing has a two-step admission process for students. First, they must apply during their senior year of high school for admission to the pre-nursing major and meet all requirements. Second, they must apply during their first year of college to the professional nursing program and meet all requirements. There are a limited number of seats in the professional nursing program. 

As of the 2023-24 academic year, the UK College of Nursing will no longer offer provisional guaranteed admission to the professional nursing program so all eligible students will be evaluated for admission based on their academic records and an interview. Details are available here. 
 
The College of Education is excited to announce a new major this year, Leadership for Community Education and Human Learning. This program is for students interested in implementing education programs outside the traditional school/classroom structure!

Slate.org is a platform designed to strengthen communication between undergraduate admission offices, school counselors, community-based organizations and students during the college search and application process.

Our   First Time Freshman Guide   also details step-by-step information about any incoming first year student’s next steps. Any student who was admitted to the University of Louisville without test scores on file or who does not meet the minimum math and/or reading requirements for their academic program may need to take the   Accuplacer .   . Hello counselors and greetings from the University of Kentucky!  September is an exciting month for the University of Kentucky! We have some key updates to share from our campus:   ADMISSION We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve begun sending out admission decisions for students who have completed their applications. If your student’s application is fully submitted and meets our criteria, they can receive your admission decision in as little as two weeks. We operate on a rolling basis throughout the year. Accepted students will receive electronic notification through their applicant portal, followed by an admission packet in the mail.
