September 2023
Commitment to affordability
We are dedicated to helping your students and making a UofL education affordable for them. We are excited to share the following expansions to our in-state and out-of-state scholarship programs:
• Cardinal Commitment
» This grant is intended to provide aid for college-ready Kentucky students, closing the gap between financial aid and the cost of attendance. Any Kentucky student receiving a 2024-2025 federal aid package that includes a Pell Grant will have 100% of their tuition covered. Other awards will range from $2,000-$9,000.
• Out-of-State Scholarships
-
» Beginning Fall 2024, our Border Benefit program will expand to include the entire states of Ohio and West Virginia. Other eligible regions include Illinois, Indiana, Nashville Metro and St. Louis Metro. This grant brings the cost to attend UofL down to the equivalent of Kentucky in-state tuition.
-
» We have also increased the base award for our Regional Scholars Program to an automatic $12,000. Awards range from $12,000-$16,000.
-
» All out-of-state scholarship levels and eligibility criteria can be found here. Test-Optional Admissions
Students can continue to apply and be admitted to UofL with or without test scores for Fall 2024. We still highly encourage students to submit their test scores for accurate course placement. Submitting test scores will never disadvantage a student’s application for admission.
Test-Optional Scholarships
Minor changes to award levels for both in-state and out-of-state test-optional scholarships have been made. A comprehensive academic review of the number of AP, IB, Honors or Dual Credit courses that a student takes, compared with how many your school offers, will be used to determine eligibility for a test-optional award. We highly encourage students to submit their test scores for possible scholarship consideration.
New Programs
We are excited to announce the addition of a 3+3 law school partnership with our Communications program and the J.D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, and a 3+3 pharmacy school partnership with our Biology (BA) program and the Sullivan University School of Pharmacy. Students in either of these programs can complete their undergraduate and graduate degrees in 6 years instead of 7, and begin their first year of graduate school during their senior year of undergraduate studies.
