Happy November! Here are the updates we have to share with you this month: Admissions Updates Our Early Action deadline is approaching on December 1, 2024, for the following:
For your reference, December 1 falls on a Sunday this year, so as with any UK deadline that falls on a weekend, the application deadline will be extended to 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday, December 2, 2024. Students who complete their applications and submit all supporting materials by this time will be considered Early Action applicants. The University of Kentucky will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday November 28-December 1 but our admission and recruitment teams will be available on December 2 for any last-minute student or counselor needs related to the deadline. We encourage all students to apply to the University of Kentucky. Kentucky residents and non-residents with at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA are eligible for admission. Students with a GPA below 3.0 will be considered through a holistic review process. Admitted Students Once an application is complete, most students can expect to hear about their admission status within two to three weeks. Admitted students will receive an acceptance booklet by mail, but they can also access the details and next steps through the online copy of the booklet. |
Investing in Our Students We’re excited to share the early success of UK Invests; a program launched by the University of Kentucky to give every student access to a low-risk investment account. UK was the first institution in the country to offer such a program, and the results have been impressive. More than 20% of UK students (10,000+) have opened accounts, and these students have earned more than $1 million. This program was created to teach students the value of saving and investing, while also preparing them for life beyond college. We’ve already seen positive impacts: students who opened UK Invests accounts have higher retention rates and, on average, higher GPAs than those who did not participate. Prospective students and their families can join a special Webinar on Wednesday, Nov. 20 to learn more about UK Invests and how the program can impact their lives. Learn more and encourage students to sign up here. |

People of UK: Stephanie Knutson, Admission Officer Meet Stephanie Knutson, a First-Time Student Admission Officer at UK. Stephanie graduated from UK in 2013 with a degree in communication and has been working in the Office of Undergraduate Admission since 2015. Even if you're not a die-hard fan, put on your favorite UK gear and join in the fun!” Most memorable moment at UK? “Seeing the campus continually grow and improve, from the new dorms to the state-of-the-art Gatton Student Center and Jacobs Science Building. Email Deliverability We’ve recently identified some challenges with email deliverability that may be affecting communications sent from UK. As a result, some students may not be receiving valuable information about application deadlines, campus tours and other opportunities. Please encourage your students to check their spam or junk folders for any emails from UK. If they find our emails, kindly ask them to mark them as “not spam or not junk” to ensure future messages are delivered to their inbox. For more information on how to keep UK emails from going to spam/junk, students can visit go.uky.edu/ukinformed. We also recommend asking your school or district’s IT department to add UK’s domains (like uky.edu, lifecycle.uky.edu, bowman.uky.edu, and kentucky.edu) to their safe sender or white-list list. This will help ensure all UK communications get through. As a thank you for helping resolve this issue, any high school student who signs up at go.uky.edu/connecttouk will receive a unique UK sticker series—a fun way for them to connect with us! |
